Day 1 : Start Delhi; Free Time

Location: Delhi

Accommodation Name: Bloom Hotel CR Park

The adventure begins in Delhi. There is a welcome briefing in the evening – the time and location will be posted in the hotel lobby. The rest of the day has been left free, allowing you time to settle into the trip.

Accommodation: Bloom Hotel CR Park (or similar)

Day 2 : Morning Sightseeing In Delhi; Afternoon Transfer To Ranthambore

Location: Delhi

Accommodation Name: Raj Palace Resort

Meals Included: Breakfast

Visit the walled city of Old Delhi this morning. It’s crowded, full of activities and still influenced by the great Mughals who once ruled from the ramparts of the majestic Red Fort. Navigating the city, we visit the 17th-century Jama Mosque, the largest mosque in India; Rajghat, a memorial to Mahatma Gandhi; India Gate; and vast colonial buildings. In the afternoon, we transfer (approximately six hours) to Ranthambore National Park.

Accommodation: Raj Palace Resort (or similar)

Day 3 : Morning And Evening Game Drives

Location: Ranthambore National Park

Accommodation Name: Raj Palace Resort

Meals Included: Breakfast

Today we take two game drives in Ranthambore National Park. The reserve was declared a wildlife sanctuary in 1957 and in 1974 became part of Project Tiger. After initial success, poaching has drastically reduced the tiger population. However, Ranthambore is still considered one of the best places to spot wild tigers and many of our groups over the last few years have seen the elusive predator. Ranthambore is also home to a great variety of other wildlife, including several species of monkey, deer, crocodile and birdlife.

During the game drives, each vehicle is joined by a Forest Guard, a requirement by the local authorities. The Forest Guards are part of a national park initiative to generate employment for the nearby villages. They are skilled spotters and trackers so, though their English is sometimes very limited, they greatly improve the experience.

Accommodation: Raj Palace Resort (or similar)

Day 4 : To Bundi Within The Beautiful Aravalli Hills; Visit Bundi Fort

Location: Bundi, Rajasthan

Accommodation Name: Ishwari Niwas Hotel

Meals Included: Breakfast

Leave Ranthambore and drive (approximately four hours) to Bundi, a delightful town on the Aravali foothills. It is best known for its palaces and the beautifully decorated stepwells that were used to collect water during the monsoon centuries ago. Visit Bundi Fort in the afternoon, one of the most beautiful palaces in India and home to outstanding miniature paintings portraying the history of the palace and its royal family. The fort is high on a hill overlooking Bundi and its Krishna blue stonewashed houses.

Accommodation: Ishwari Niwas Hotel (or similar)

Day 5 : To Udaipur

Location: Udaipur, Rajasthan

Accommodation Name: Paras Mahal Hotel

Meals Included: Breakfast

Set off on our five-hour (145mi/235km) journey to the lakeside city of Udaipur. Known as the Pearl of Rajasthan, the City of Sunrise and Venice of the East, Udaipur is a beautiful place regarded by both Indians and visitors as the most romantic city in India.

Accommodation: Paras Mahal Hotel (or similar)

Day 6 : Full Day To Explore Udaipur, Including Visiting The City Palace And Jagdish Temple

Location: Udaipur

Accommodation Name: Paras Mahal Hotel

Meals Included: Breakfast

On the east side of Lake Pichola, the main palace commands an unsurpassed view across the shimmering lake to the dusty Aravalli Hills.

The lake has two islands, each with a palace to rival that on the mainland. Jag Mandir and Jag Nivas (the latter is now the Lake Palace Hotel) rise out of their own reflections in the lake waters. Udaipur is surrounded by a massive bastion with five gates and dominating the town is the City Palace of the Maharana. The sumptuous apartments are decorated with multi-coloured mosaics, elaborate mirror work and inlaid tiles; half of these can be visited as the current Maharaja still occupies the rest of the palace. Spend the morning visiting the City Palace and Jagdish Temple, with a huge black-stone image of Jagannath, an aspect of Lord Vishnu. If time allows, it may be possible to visit the gardens of Gulab Bag or take a boat trip on the lake. The afternoon is free to enjoy this evocative city.

Accommodation: Paras Mahal Hotel (or similar)

Day 7 : To Jodhpur Via Ranakpur And A Visit To The Jain Temple

Location: Jodhpur, Rajasthan

Accommodation Name: Shree Ram International Hotel

Meals Included: Breakfast

Taking the scenic road out of Udaipur, we head to the blue city of Jodhpur, where the houses were painted blue to distinguish them as those of Brahmins. It was founded by the Rajput chief Roa Jodha and was formerly the capital of the Marwar state. The city is surrounded by a wall almost 6mi (10km) in circumference and is dominated by the massive fort that stands on a rocky hill commanding the surrounding desert.

It’s a seven-hour drive there, but to break up the journey we visit the 15th-century Jain temple at Ranakpur. The main temple, beautifully carved from marble, is dedicated to Adinath and has 29 halls supported by 1,444 pillars, each delicately carved with a different design.

Accommodation: Shree Ram International Hotel (or similar)

Day 8 : Visit Mehrangarh Fort, Afternoon Free To Explore

Location: Jodhpur, Rajasthan

Accommodation Name: Shree Ram International Hotel

Meals Included: Breakfast

First thing, we visit Mehrangarh Fort for a great view of the blue houses. The fort itself looks massive from the outside but inside there is an impressive collection of finely carved sandstone screens and lattice windows, and the palaces themselves are very finely decorated.

We then walk through the spice market, before having the rest of the day free to explore the city. Options include visiting Mandore Garden, known for its collection of impressive cenotaphs dedicated to the rulers of Jodhpur.

Accommodation: Shree Ram International Hotel (or similar)

Pushkar Fair departure (14 November 2026): The itinerary for this departure is slightly amended. Read the Colours of Rajasthan - Pushkar Festival (2026) itinerary for more details.

Day 9 : To The Hindu Pilgrimage Town Of Pushkar

Location: Pushkar, Rajasthan

Accommodation Name: Hotel Dera Masuda

Meals Included: Breakfast

This morning, we transfer (six hours) to the lakeside pilgrimage town of Pushkar. There’s time for sightseeing this afternoon. In the town centre is the holy Pushkar Lake, which is surrounded by several temples, including a Bramha temple said to be the only one in the world dedicated to this deity. A dip in the lake waters and worship at the Bramha temple ensure salvation.

Accommodation: Hotel Dera Masuda (or similar)

Day 10 : Morning At Leisure; Afternoon Drive To Jaipur

Location: Jaipur

Accommodation Name: Hotel 7 Apple

Meals Included: Breakfast

Enjoy time at leisure this morning to explore Pushkar. Roam the narrow streets hunting for souvenirs or take a stroll to the lake and watch the local people start their day. In the afternoon, we drive (approximately three hours) to Jaipur, an attractive city of broad avenues, built of sandstone and painted pink at a later stage.

Accommodation: Hotel 7 Apple (or similar)

Day 11 : Dawn Walking Tour And Sightseeing Around Jaipur

Location: Jaipur

Accommodation Name: Hotel 7 Apple

Meals Included: Breakfast

We start as the sun rises, heading out for a dawn walking tour led by a local guide as the Pink City wakes. See the local people start their day and the rituals that take place in early morning markets and small temples. We visit different chowkris (blocks) within the walled city, with the chance to interact with different artisans.

Returning to the hotel for breakfast and some time to refresh, we head out again mid-morning for a city tour led by a local guide. Visit the highlights, including one of the most intriguing sights in India, the observatory of Jai Singh. This is an assembly of immense astronomical instruments. We also see the Hawa Mahal, or Palace of the Winds, and the splendid Amber Palace, rising above a lake outside the city.

Accommodation: Hotel 7 Apple (or similar)

Day 12 : Drive To Agra Via Fatehpur Sikri; Afternoon Visit Agra Fort

Location: Agra

Accommodation Name: Avalon Palms

Meals Included: Breakfast

Transfer to Agra (approximately 4hr 30min), visiting Fatehpur Sikri, the deserted royal city of Emperor Akbar, on the way. This impressive and well-preserved citadel became his capital in 1571, after the blessing of a local Moslem holy man correctly predicted the birth of a longed-for son, his successor Jehangir. The mosque, designed to hold 10,000 worshippers, the palaces, residences and halls of audience, are constructed of decorative red sandstone. But this magnificence only lasted 14 years; Akbar left Fatehpur Sikri in 1584 to secure his outlying territories, leaving this city much as we see it today.

This afternoon, we visit the imposing Red Fort of Akbar (Agra Fort), whose mighty sandstone walls enclose the beautiful white-marble Pearl Mosque and the palaces, halls, courtyards and fountains of his sons and successors, Jehangir and Shah Jahan.

Accommodation: Avalon Palms (or similar)

Day 13 : Sunrise At The Taj Mahal; Visit To The Wildlife Sos Center To See Rescued Elephants; To Delhi

Location: Taj Mahal

Accommodation Name: Bloom Hotel CR Park

Meals Included: Breakfast

Wake very early to see the incredible spectacle of the sun rising over the Taj Mahal. The Moghul emperor Shah Jahan built the beautiful white-marble building in memory of his beloved wife, Mumtaz Mahal, who died in 1631. This experience is often the highlight of the trip.

Following breakfast, we begin on our journey (approximately four to five hours) back to Delhi, stopping on the outskirts of Agra to visit and support Wildlife SOS. Their work is dedicated to rescuing and caring for sloth bears and elephants. At the Agra Elephant Conservation and Care Centre, we meet an education officer to learn about their vital work and commitment to rehabilitating abused elephants and advocating for their conservation through public awareness campaigns. We tour the centre and see some of the rescued elephants and hear their stories.

After this informative visit, we resume our drive to Delhi and check into our hotel. It’s your last night together so the tour leader can help to arrange a group dinner.

Accommodation: Bloom Hotel CR Park (or similar)

Very helpful and prompt service

Very helpful and prompt service. I called to check for an already booked trip and once we sorted this, the agent was ready to help me with another booking as well. He actually waited for me to book my flight tickets, answered all my questions, informed me of all my options. Exodus is a tour company I am using regularly due to the quality of their trips, ease of booking and helpfulness of their customer service team

Stunning walking. Walking the Amalfi Coast

04-Nov-2021

This trip takes you through the most beautiful parts of the Mediterranean walking with a guide and also discovering the wonders of Pompeii and Vesuvius. The hotel had a nice feel as family run, spotless and comfortable rooms, we were well looked after for breakfasts and dinner each day, and the barmen fixed some mean cocktails for us.!

It's amazing what you can do in a week! Cycling the Dalmatian Coast.

08-Oct-2021

This holiday was extremely enjoyable. The itinerary is well planned and the route takes you to a variety of destinations. Not having been to Croatia before I didn't know there were so many beautiful small islands and I loved the ferry and catarmaran rides. The coastal route we took was dramatic and the World Heritage sites in Split and Dubrovnik very interesting and worth visiting. The Adriatic Sea was warm, blue and inviting, good for swimming even in October. The hotels we stayed in varied in size from medium to large. I particularly liked the one just outside Dubrovnik as I had a sea view. Tourists were plentiful in Split and Dubrovnik but in the other places we stayed there was an end of season feel and it was quiet on the roads and in the resorts. The food was good and our guide was always able to recommend a nice restaurant for our evening meal. The weather in October was good for cycling - not hot, partly cloudy most days and one day it rained!

Fabulous company and trip

06-Jan-2023

We went overland from Cape Town to Zimbabwe through Botswana and Namibia. What a fantastic trip. Our first time with Exodus although we have travelled extensively around the world. We would highly recommend this company for such a brilliant trip - we got everything and more all at a good price. Thanks to everyone involved. We are looking at our next trip!

08-Oct-2024

We had a week walking and wine in the Duro valley with two local guides Louis and Theresa. They were both exceptional, knowledgeable, professional and funny. Our group of 11 had a great time. This was a premium tour. Our 4 star hotels were both well located clean and with great views. We had several local meals arranged by our guides with local people cooking for us. We did not meet any other walkers during our hikes only two shepherds. I would certainly recommend this tour to anyone interested in the local produce and wine. We both felt as we had learnt a lot about Portugal during this tour. We will use Exodus again. One of our group had done 30 tours with Exodus over the years. Quite an endorsement.

17-May-2023

I've done 8 trips in the last 14 years with Exodus, and have been rewarded with a 10% discount on all future bookings. I feel very confident that I'll receive pleasant, efficient service, and have the unusual holiday experience that I'm looking for each time. I've trekked to the top of snow-capped peaks, wild-camped in the desert, seen amazing spectacles of nature, visited 4 capital cities in a week, and learned about local culture and experienced local hospitality in a way that I simply wouldn't on a conventional holiday. The quality of the accommodation and guides can vary, but this is mainly down to cultural differences and things that Exodus can't control. I've only ever complained once, my complaint was taken seriously, and I was sent a discount voucher - you can't say fairer than that. I remain a loyal customer.

21-Aug-2024

Exodus are generally a good travel company. Things tend to run smoothly and trips well organised. Their customers tend to be at retirement age. Trips are a bit overpriced. I would also avoid trips in Europe, as these often focus on more coffee stops and meals, rather than walking. I would also recommend making sure your guide records any accidents you have, hopefully not applicable. I had one on Sierra de Aitana which the guide saw and knew about, but he and Exodus said it never happened when I followed up after the trip. I wasn’t putting in a claim, just suggested a safety improvement. They have since apologised and acknowledged this as an error. They are a good reliable option for outside of Europe trips.

Food came quickly. Staff very friendly and polite . However the chef or person preparing the food did not seem to read the menu! If it says a meal should come with vegetables, you should not have to ask for them. They served shepherds pie with garlic bread! The munchies ice cream sundae said it should come in a glass with a flake but came in a little bowl with just a few munchies! When asking the staff were happy to replace and correct but customer should get what they order and what menu says first time round!!

If you like to be mistreated Exodus is perfect for you. If you enjoy terrible choices for hotels and pseudo restaurants Exodus is perfect for you. Careless about their clients and loveless about their propositions. Exodus has been a dissatisfaction and disappointment about every dealing i and my group have had with him. Especially a man called Simone who just cares about the money he can get from you couldn’t care less about service.
