Itinerary
Day 1: Amman Arrival
Welcome to Jordan! Upon arrival at Queen Alia Amman International Airport, you will be met by our representative and transferred to your hotel.
Overnight in Amman
Day 2: Amman – Jerash – Amman (B/-/-)
After breakfast, enjoy a morning city tour of Amman visiting the Citadel, Museum, Amphitheatre, the Folklore Museum, and King Abdullahs Mosque, touring old and new parts of Amman. After the tour, head north to Jerash, the Graeco-Roman city (ancient Gerasa), a close second to Petra on the list of top destinations in Jordan. Boasting an unbroken chain of human occupation dating back more than 6,500 years back in time, this city was hidden in the sand for centuries before being excavated and restored over the past 70 years, Jerash is a fine example of the grand, formal, and provincial Roman towns that can be found throughout the Middle East. One may walk beneath the four imposing gates or down the \"Street of Columns\" north from the “Oval Plaza” while stepping over the tracks of chariot wheels still visible in the paving stones.
Overnight in Amman
Day 3: Amman – Madaba – Baptism – Petra (B/-/-)
In the morning you will be transferred to Petra with an en-route visit to Madaba, and Mount Nebo a (Kings Highway) drive to visit Baptism the site believed to be the original place where John baptized Jesus the Baptist. Then drive along the 5,000-year-old King's Highway is one of the most memorable journeys in the Holy Land, passing through a string of ancient sites. The first city you come upon is Madaba, \"the City of Mosaics\". Madaba's chief attraction, in the contemporary Greek Orthodox church of St. Georg, is a wonderfully vivid, sixth-century Byzantine mosaic map showing Jerusalem and other holy sites. Ten minutes to the west is the most revered site in Jordan: Mount Nebo, the memorial of Moses, the presumed site of the prophet's death and burial place. A small, square church was built on the spot by early Byzantine Christians and later expanded into a vast complex. Later proceed further south to Petra.
Overnight in Petra
Day 4: Petra (B/-/-)
After breakfast at the hotel, depart on the desert way to Petra for a visit and an 800-meter horse ride. Hidden behind an almost impenetrable barrier of rugged mountains, the legendary “Red Rose” city of Petra is, perhaps, the most stunning site in the Middle East, carved out of craggy rocks by the Nabateans, the industrious Arab people who settled in the south more than 2,000 years ago. Approaching through the cool gloom of the Siq, a long narrow gorge, you will discover steeply rising sides all but obliterate the sun, which provides a dramatic contrast with the magic to come. Suddenly, the gorge opens into a natural square dominated by Petra's most famous monument, the ‘Treasury [Al Khasneh], whose intricately carved facade glows in the dazzling sun. The Monastery [El Deir] and the High Place of the Sacrifice [Al Madbah] are some of the myriad archeological wonders waiting to be explored in Petra. After the tour, head back to your hotel in Petra.
Overnight in Petra
Day 5: Petra – Aqaba (B/-/-)
In the morning, depart for Wadi Rum for a jeep ride through the desert. Stunning in its natural beauty, Wadi Rum epitomizes the romance of the desert. With its \"moonscape\" of ancient valleys and towering mountains rising out of the sand, Wadi Rum is also home to several Bedouin tribes who live in scattered camps throughout the area. Climbers are especially attracted to Wadi Rum due to its sheer granite and sandstone cliffs, while hikers enjoy its vast empty spaces. Wadi Rum is probably best known for its connection with the enigmatic British officer T.E. Lawrence, who was based here during the Great Arab Revolt of 1917-18. Much of David Lean's Lawrence of Arabia was filmed in Wadi Rum. After the tour, head back to your hotel.
Overnight in Aqaba
Day 6: Aqaba – Amman (B/-/-)
After breakfast, enjoy your morning at leisure before you are transferred via the desert way back to Amman in the afternoon for check-in and overnight.
