The tour will continue to the Main Square, the site of the Cathedral and the La Compañía Church. Later, you will visit the Sacsayhuaman Fortress; just one example of the military Inca architecture in the area. The church here was founded in 1580 and is a showcase of the colonial art in Peru, sometimes referred to as \"the Sistine Chapel of the Americas” due to its rich interior. You will also stop at Raqchi to see the remains of the remarkable temple of Viracocha, considered by historians to be a significant Inca construction, and at La Raya, the highest pass on the route. Enjoy the breathtaking views of the beautiful countryside as you discover llamas, alpacas, and vicunas wandering the wild. The last stop before Puno will be in Pucara, an old ceremonial site showing evidence of a pre-Inca civilization. You will arrive at your hotel in Puno later this afternoon/evening. Spend the rest of the day at leisure.
