Head on a 15-day ultra-small group tour to Spain and Portugal to see the most extraordinary cities and breathtaking architectural attractions in the Mediterranean! Begin your journey in Madrid, the Spanish capital where you will visit the Arabic Fortress and the Royal Palace. Continue your tour to Salamanca, famous for its magnificent architectural and artistic wealth, before you travel to Porto, the cultural heart of Portugal where you will discover the Santa Clara Church and explore the port wine cellars. From there you will visit Coimbra, where you can see the oldest university in Europe and discover the birthplace of Fado music. Your next stop will be in Fatima, known for the world-famous pilgrimage sanctuary where the Virgin Mary appeared. Next, travel to Lisbon with stops in Batalha and Alcobaca, famous for their UNESCO World Heritage Sites. In Lisbon, you will discover the Belem Tower and the famous Jeronimos Monastery. From there, head back to Spain and explore Caceres, known for its Roman, Islamic and Italian Renaissance architecture, and discover Cordoba, where you can visit the third largest mosque in Europe. Travel to Seville, home to the second-largest church in the Catholic world, and explore Granada with a visit to the Alhambra Palace and Generalife Gardens. Drive to Toledo, the imperial city of three cultures, before you head back to Madrid where you will end your tour of Spain!

Day 1: Madrid Arrival
Welcome to Madrid, the capital city of Spain. After arrival at the Madrid Airport, you will be met and transferred to your hotel. Enjoy the rest of the day at leisure.

Day 2: Madrid (B/-/-)
After breakfast, start your day with a city tour of Madrid. Discover the medieval origins of the city with a visit to the Arabic fortress at the Barrio de la Morería, famous for its historical buildings. Drive through the courtesan district of the Hapsburgs, characterized by Phillip II and its Renaissance and Baroque style buildings, Puerta del Sol, Plaza Mayor, and Plaza de la Villa. Explore the Madrid of the Bourbons and the complex town planning schemes of Charles III, the Royal Palace, Cibeles and Neptuno Fountains, and the Puerta de Alcalá. Admire the XIX C. works such as Prado Museum. Explore the contemporary components of Madrid with visits to areas such as Gran Vía, Castellana, the district of Salamanca, Plaza Castilla, and Parque del Oeste, as well as the commercial and financial areas of Modern Madrid, the emblematic Las Ventas Bullring, and the Santiago Bernabéu Football Stadium. In the afternoon you will be free to continue exploring the wonders this city has to offer.

Day 3: Madrid – Salamanca – Porto (B/-/-)
After breakfast at the hotel, you will be transferred to the meeting point near the Plaza de Oriente at 8:30 AM and drive to Salamanca. Enjoy your free time in this University World Heritage City of great architectural and artistic wealth. Head to the Portuguese border until you reach Porto.

Day 4: Porto (B/-/-)
In the morning you will head on a sightseeing tour of Porto, a historic and varied city with its narrow streets which make up the ancient Ribeira district, through to the grand plazas of the Avenida dos Aliados. You will discover the Cathedral, the Stock Exchange Building, and Santa Clara Church. Enjoy the afternoon at leisure to explore the city on your own. This fascinating metropolis boasts an extensive history, extraordinary tourist attractions, and buzzing nightlife.

Day 5: Porto – Coimbra – Fatima (B/-/-)
After breakfast at the hotel. you will drive to Coimbra. This city seats of one of the oldest universities in Europe and the birthplace of Fado. Enjoy free time exploring Coimbra. From there you will continue to drive to Fatima, the center of the Christian Faith and World Pilgrimage Sanctuary with its impressive Basilica and the Cova da Iria place where the Virgin Mary appeared. Discover the Chapel of the Apparitions, the heart of the sanctuary, with the tombs of the shepherds, Lucia, Francisco and Jacinta.

Day 6: Fatima – Batalha – Nazare – Alcobaca – Lisbon (B/-/-)
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel. Departure to the Batalha Monastery, a masterpiece of Gothic and Manueline architecture considered a World Heritage Place by UNESCO. Continue your tour to the scenic fishing town of Nazaré, where you may enjoy some free time to explore the area before you continue to Alcobaça (World Heritage). Visit the XII C. church and admire the tombs of Pedro and Inés de Castro. Finally, you will arrive in Lisbon.

Day 7: Lisbon (B/-/-)
After breakfast at the hotel, you will head on a morning tour of the ancient Olissipo. Drive through the main squares and avenues and discover the Belem Tower, Jeronimos Monastery, Coach Museum, Monument to the Discoverers, Marquis of Pombal Square, and Liberty Avenue. In the afternoon you may enjoy free time to explore the nostalgic corners of the Alfama Quarter, the old city gathered next to its Castle, with old buildings nested in the narrow twisting “Ruas” which are full of color and house the “tabernas” where Fado sounds as a missing past.

Day 8: Lisbon – Caceres – Cordoba (B/-/D)
Enjoy an early morning breakfast at the hotel. Depart at 7:30 AM to Caceres, considered to be a World Heritage Place due to the citys blend of Roman, Islamic, Northern Gothic, and Italian Renaissance architecture. Walkthrough the Plaza Mayor and explore the Old Town with its famous Medieval Quarter. Afterwards, continue your tour towards Cordoba, once the capital of the Caliphate. Enjoy dinner and accommodation at the hotel.

Day 9: Cordoba – Seville (B/-/D)
After breakfast at the hotel, begin your day with an impressive tour of Cordoba to discover the great Mosque-Cathedral and other sites that will ease your mind and spirit as you stroll through the narrow winding streets of the Jewish Quarter. In the afternoon, after a short two-hour ride, you will reach Seville.

Day 10: Seville (B/-/D)
Enjoy a delicious breakfast at the hotel. Embark on a morning monumental tour of the city visiting the exterior of the Cathedral (the second largest in the Catholic world after St. Peters in Rome), the Santa Cruz Quarter, a natural scenario of “Carmen” and precisely where the myth of “Don Juan” developed. Discover Maria Luisa Park and Plaza de España. In the afternoon, enjoy free time to see the exclusive views and flavors of this active city which is full of light.

Day 11: Seville – Ronda – Costa Del Sol (B/-/D)
After breakfast head south towards the dramatic cliffside city of Ronda, considered to be the birthplace of modern bullfighting. Enjoy free time to explore this town of Celtic origin and discover the magnificent view of the valley and mountain range. In the afternoon you will continue your tour to the Costa del Sol, famous for its beautiful landscapes, fabulous beaches, delicious food, and fascinating customs and traditions. This is one of the most modern and important international tourist areas.

Day 12: Costa Del Sol – Granada (B/-/D)
After breakfast at the hotel you will drive towards the city of Granada and discover the incredible monumental environment, the last stronghold of the Moorish Kingdoms up until 1492. Visit the world-famous Alhambra Complex and Generalife Gardens which have inspired several authors with its sound and sights, such as the “Tales of the Alhambra” by W. Irving.

Day 13: Granada – Toledo – Madrid (B/-/-)
After breakfast, you will drive north towards Castilla, and, surrounded by the Tagus River, you will reach the imperial city of Toledo — a World Heritage City where the three cultures of Christians, Moorish and Jewish have lived together. Discover the Spanish art, history, and spirituality of this entire town and see how it is a National Monument. Embark on a short, guided tour of this historic town as you meander through the narrow streets. From there you will visit a famous “Damasquinado” (gold and silver inlaying in iron) factory. Continue your tour to Madrid, where you will be dropped at the Courtyard Marriott Madrid Princesa.

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before you are transferred to the airport for your flight back home.

Yes, but only in case it was previously agreed by both sides and arranged by us.

What documents will I receive before I travel?
Our e-document package includes all local contact details, daily itinerary, airline e-ticket information, service vouchers, and travel tips which should be everything you require to go on your trip.

If I need one, who is responsible to obtain my visa?
You are responsible for obtaining the proper travel documents for the destinations on your itinerary, including having a passport that is valid for at least 6 months before the date of departure and a visa if required. Please check the Visa section in the Know Before You Go document for the countries you will be visiting.

Do you operate a “single share” option and how does it work?
No, not as standard. Solo travellers can book and occupy their own room for a supplement.

What happens if I need to change my holiday date once I’ve booked?
Changes to an existing reservation up to the Final Payment Date, whatever the cause, will incur a $100 per person amendment fee, potential loss of any supplier fees (such as non-refundable event tickets, park permits, and sea cruise reservations) plus any costs for replacement services. On/ after the Final Payment Date, the $100 change fee is no longer valid, instead cancellations terms apply.
